The Payroll Division is responsible for preparation of payroll for County employees. Specific functions include maintenance of various payroll files, audit of timecard data, calculation of pay, issuance of payroll warrants and advices, preparation of quarterly and annual tax information, and preparation of payments to benefit providers.

Human resource information and payroll data is highly interdependent. To assure proper internal controls, the responsibility for maintenance of employee data and system functions is segregated between Human Resources and Budget and Finance. The Payroll Division works closely with the Human Resources Department and with management and timekeepers in County Departments to prepare payroll in an accurate and timely manner.

The automated payroll system (HRMS) and related interfaces were developed to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, County policies, and governmental accounting standards. The payroll system is designed to support proper internal controls, assure accuracy and integrity of data, and produce reliable financial reports.
