Interpreters' certification, as mandated by RCW 2.43 is available through the Washington State Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) in Olympia. You may call (360) 705-5301 to obtain information on testing.
Languages Requiring Certification
Interpreters in the following languages must be certified or qualified to work in court. All other languages must be registered or qualified:
Arabic (Egyptian)
Cambodian (Khmer)
Cantonese
French
Korean
Laotian
Mandarin
Russian
Somali
Spanish
Sign Language Interpreters
Sign language interpreters are certified by RID (The Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.).
