Regular full-time employees will earn approximately one day of sick leave per month; regular part-time employees will earn a pro-rata portion or at least one hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Extra hire employees will earn one hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked.
Sick Leave Accrual
Sick leave is accrued at the end of each two-week pay cycle and may be used once it is earned.
Sick Leave Incentive Program
The County's sick leave incentive program is currently suspended for non-exempt employees due to an opinion from Washington State Labor & Industries that incentive programs are in violation of the State's sick leave law and rules. Exempt employees may be eligible for up to two (2) additional vacation days if no more than two (2) days of sick time off or unpaid time off are taken in the prior calendar year.
