The multiple sports opportunities available at Dawson Playfield make it a popular neighborhood park for families and youths. Located at East 90th Street and Portland Avenue in Tacoma, Dawson Playfield is ideal for a relaxing picnic, play dates on the play structures, a friendly game of basketball, and a leisure walk around all of the activities.
Pierce County is excited to announce the completed renovation of Dawson Playfield in August of 2021.
The park includes:
A covered picnic shelter (without cooking facilities)
Renovated softball field (non-regulated) – including a new backstop and ADA pathway to seating.
Resurfaced outdoor basketball. Junior Hoops have been added with playground-style bucket hoops that will provide basketball fun for the younger set without being taken over by older players.
Expansion of the playground including "big kid swings" plus climbing and spinning elements.
Uncovered picnic tables
Newly paved 5' wide walking path around the playfield
Dawson Playfield is open from dawn to dusk, unless otherwise posted.
