Recycle Glass at Drop-off Boxes and Recycling Centers
In Pierce County, glass has not been collected curbside with other recyclables since 2006, when there was a transition from a three-bin recycling system to single carts. When glass is mixed with other recyclables and breaks, the glass shards contaminated the other materials and make it more difficult to recycle them.
To prepare glass for recycling at drop-off locations
collect only bottles and jars used for drinks or food
rinse containers
remove lids
do NOT recycle wine glasses, vases, or other types of glass - these are considered garbage.
