Rody Creek Channel Stabilization Between 72nd Street East and Pioneer Way East

About the Project

Pierce County has initiated this project to reduce sediment input and loading into the Rody Creek channel by stabilizing certain areas of ravine slope erosion. Additionally an objective is to reduce transport of sediment deposits through the Rody Creek channel upstream of the existing culvert crossing under Pioneer Way East.

Some actions that will be taken for this project will utilize fish friendly natural wood materials and log structures to reduce sediment transport. Several channel spanning log structures will be placed, to reduce the movement of sediment into the receiving downstream channel reach (below Pioneer Way East). The project will also help to address Clarks Creek TMDL goals and objectives by helping to improve water quality to the receiving Clarks Creek stream system.
