Engineering Services is committed to improving the stormwater infrastructure that helps reduce destructive flooding, improving water quality, and preserving and restoring fish and wildlife habitat.
Additional Responsibilities
Surface Water Management is responsible for researching flooding concerns of the community and choosing projects that provide the greatest public benefit. Environmental issues, the public infrastructure affected and the overall cost of the project are thoroughly considered.
Improvements in Infrastructure
Over the last 20 years, significant stormwater infrastructure has been built to reduce the impacts associated with flooding. These improvements, together with better development regulations which stop new problems from being created, have made the community more resistant to Pacific Northwest storms.
