About the facility
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Corrections Bureau is a direct supervision jail located at 910 Tacoma AVE S, Tacoma, WA 98402. The Pierce County Jail has an operational capacity for 1700 inmates and currently employs approximately 300 correctional staff. The Pierce County Jail is made of two facilities “New Jail” and “Main Jail”. The New Jail was built in 2003 and the Main Jail was built in 1985.

Directions from South I-5 to the Pierce County Jail:
Take I-5 Southbound to Exit 133 for I-705 N/WA-7 toward City Center. Keep right to continue toward I-705 N. Keep left, follow signs for Interstate 705 N/ City Center. Continue onto I-705 N. Take the A Street Exit on the left toward City Center. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for S 15th Street/Pacific Ave. Continue onto S 15th Street. Turn right onto S Yakima Ave. Turn right onto S 10th Street. The Pierce County Jail will be on your left.
Directions from North I-5 to Pierce County Jail:
Take I-5 Northbound to Exit 132 for S 38th Street. Keep left, follow signs for Washington 16 W/Gig Harbor/Bremerton. Keep right to continue on Exit 1A, follow signs for Sprague Ave and merge onto S Sprague Ave. Turn right on S 19th Street. Turn left onto S Yakima Ave. Turn right onto S 10th Street. The Pierce County Jail will be on your left.
