Jail Mail Service

Jail Correspondence

The Pierce County Jail reserves the right to reject any item that it considers to be unsuitable. All mail must include the sender's return address on the envelope. Please include the inmate's booking number on all correspondence to ensure accurate delivery.

Contraband

Any items considered contraband will result in the envelope and its contents being returned to sender or investigated for criminal violation. Both incoming and outgoing mail may be opened to intercept cash, checks and money orders, and inspected for contraband. Mail is read, censored or rejected based on legitimate facility interests of order and security. The exception is legal mail clearly identified as such between client and attorney or court which pertains to their case.

  • Effective April 15, 2020 all original mail contents will be scanned and the scanned copies will be forwarded to the inmate.  Once the originals have been scanned they will be shredded.  Please review the changes here - PC Jail Mail Processing Changes.
