There is a new type of theft that is occurring at an alarming rate. Many victims of mail theft, vehicle prowls, burglary and even unknown thefts of garbage are finding that their name and credit is quickly being destroyed.
Forgery Victim
If you are a victim of a forgery immediately close the account that is being used, whether it is a checking account or a credit card account. Report the forgery to your local law enforcement agency and provide them with documentation showing the details of the forgery that occurred.
Identity Theft Victim
If you have been a victim of identity theft, either by the use of your social security number, name and/or credit information, you can help protect yourself from further fraudulent activity using your identity.
