A Confession

It's not actually a room, but several that contain the evidence for the Pierce County Sheriff's Department and Tacoma Police Department. In 1977 both departments merged into one property room. It is staffed by Pierce County Sheriff's Department employees. Funding comes from both police departments. The property room covers approximately 32,000 square feet, taking up nearly half of the basement in the County-City Building in Tacoma, in addition to a large off-site warehouse.

Mission Statement

The law enforcement property function exists to receive and safely store evidence, found property and property for safekeeping; and restore the property to its rightful owner or legally dispose of the property in a timely manner.
