Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) is free, state-funded preschool that provides experiences geared to meet children's' individual needs. Families with children age 3 or 4 years old by August 31st may qualify for this free opportunity.
We have 8 ECEAP classrooms in 7 locations across Pierce County including Bonney Lake, Buckley, Eatonville, Orting, South Hill, Sumner, and University Place. A dual language (Spanish/English) program is available at the South Hill location.
Benefits of ECEAP include socialization, early literacy and math activities, screening for vision and hearing, developmental screening, outdoor play, and USDA meals. There are also opportunities for parents and guardians since our ECEAP teams work hard to provide families with education, activities, volunteer opportunities, community resources and referrals.
ECEAP is enrolling for the 2023-2024 school year!

Pierce County Human Services Early Childhood Education and Assistance Programs (ECEAP)
ChildReach is a unique program between Pierce County and the Puyallup Tribe that has been going strong for 25+ years. The program provides developmental screening for tribal children aged birth to six years old. Each year 150-200 screenings are provided through this partnership.
Children receive screening in language, large/small motor skills, concepts, and behavior development. These screenings provide information to families and teachers about each child's unique development, including observations, recommendations, and concerns. Staff encourage parents and caregivers to provide targeted developmental activities to promote growth and development.
ChildReach is only accessible through specific Tribal programs. For more information, contact Shannon Bjorkman-Stewart at 253-973-4936.
