Welcome to the Area Agency on Aging for Pierce County!


Aging and Disability Resources (ADR) is designated by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services / Aging and Long Term Support Administration as the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for Pierce County. As an AAA, ADR is responsible for local planning, coordination and administration of Federal and State funds targeted to provide a comprehensive system of long term services and supports (LTSS) designed to address the needs and support community living for frail older adults, adults with disabilities and their caregivers residing in Pierce County. 

The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is a program of ADR and serves as the front-door to the local LTSS delivery system, providing unbiased information, community outreach / education, help accessing services and person-centered care planning / care coordination to meet the individual needs of older adults, persons with disabilities and their caregivers.

ADR Advisory Board

This Aging and Disability Resources Advisory Board assists with program planning, funds allocation, evaluation of contracted services, identification of unmet community needs, and community education.

Community-Based Services

The Aging and Disability Resources Program offers a wide range of community-based services that allow older adults and adults with disabilities to remain at home as long as possible. These services address the needs of frail, older and functionally disabled adults living in Pierce County.

Case Management

Case managers assist individuals to access the services and supports they need to remain in their own home. Nurses are also available to review health needs and teach in-home care aide how to best meet those needs.

Family Caregiver Support

Provides services to help unpaid caregivers caring for aging parents, ailing spouses, partners, disabled adult children, or friends suffering from a debilitating illness. FCSP webpage.

Long Term Care Ombudsman

Serves as a voice for residents of long-term care facilities, look into complaints, and helps solve problems. LTC Ombudsman webpage.

Aging & Disability Resource Center

Provides an access point for those seeking information and assistance regarding programs or services available to older adults or adults with disabilities. This service can range from a brief phone conversation to more in-depth conversations in the home setting.
