A tentative schedule to review the proposed Sustainability 2030: Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan for Pierce County has been established.

Tentative meeting dates are:

  • Nov. 16, 1:30 p.m.: Community Development Committee (Virtual Meeting via Zoom. Tentative, pending Council approval)

The proposed plan outlines a ten-year goal and actions to take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across Pierce County government operations and the larger community and was developed with numerous community Sustainability experts and Pierce County stakeholders. Ongoing community engagement and updates are planned as we work together to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and improve the health of Pierce County residents and our environment.

2030 Sustainability Plan Update

Pierce County adopted the 2015–2020 Sustainability Plan to protect human and environmental health, limit waste and save money across the county. As we enter this new decade, we are committed more than ever to these efforts.

The Sustainability 2030 plan outlines a ten-year goal and actions to take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across Pierce County government operations and the larger community. Reducing our greenhouse gas emissions improves the health of Pierce County residents, improves our air and water quality and saves everyone money.

These values have been our guide as we developed the plan:

Equity, Vibrant Communities, Accountability, Fiscal Responsibility, Economic Development and Innovation.
