Low Impact Development for Professionals

What is LID?

Low Impact Development (LID) is a development strategy that protects and uses natural features and/or engineered, small-scale methods to manage stormwater and more closely mimic pre-development functions. LID strategies focus on evaporating, transpiring, and infiltrating stormwater onsite through native or amended soils, vegetation, and bioengineering applications to reduce and treat runoff.

Pierce County's Low Impact Development requirements are embedded within the Stormwater Management & Site Development Manual.
