During emergencies and disasters in Pierce County, the Pierce County
Citizen Corps and Emergency Management partner with local non-profits,
non-governmental organizations and faith-based organizations to
coordinate community emergency shelters across the County, wherever
needed.
The goal of this sheltering program is:
To provide community with shelters across Pierce County that will assist displaced citizens following a disaster.
Build a coalition of agencies, non profit and governmental, that will provide services for the clients in a shelter.
Create a stronger sense of community by preparing for disaster on the local level.
Create strong relationships that will support the needs of all volunteers and responders by working together.
There is always a need for volunteers. For more information on how to volunteer with the Community Emergency Sheltering Program, contact us.
During disasters, go to the Emergency Management blog for up-to-date information on shelter locations and operation times.
