Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

What is the TIP?

The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) outlines Pierce County's future plans for transportation improvement projects and programs. The TIP is the plan for building transportation improvement projects in Pierce County for the next six years. This document is updated yearly per the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) Chapters 36.54 and 36.81

Milestones

  • August 8, 2023: Notice printed in the Tacoma News Tribune of the public hearing before the Pierce County Planning Commission.  This notice meets the requirement for providing public notice under RCW 36.70. 
  • August 22, 2023: The Pierce County Planning Commission meeting was cancelled today due to lack of a quorum and rescheduled to September 19, 2023. 
  • September 5, 2023: Notice printed in the Tacoma News Tribune of the public hearing before the Pierce County Planning Commission.  This notice meets the requirement for providing public notice under RCW 36.70. 
  • September 19, 2023: The Planning Commission voted unanimously (5-0), and recommended approval of the Draft 2024-2029 TIP and Fourteen-Year Ferry Program. 
  • September 21, 2023: Submitted to the County Executive and County Council. 
  • November 14, 2023: The Pierce County Council voted unanimously (7-0) to adopt Ordinance 2023-52s3. 
  • December 6, 2023: The Pierce County Executive, Bruce F. Dammeier, approved Ordinance 2023-52s3. 
  • December 16, 2023: Effective date of Ordinance 2023-52s3.
