Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

What is the TIP?

The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) outlines Pierce County's future plans for transportation improvement projects and programs. The TIP is the plan for building transportation improvement projects in Pierce County for the next six years. This document is updated yearly per the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) Chapters 36.54 and 36.81

Milestones

  • August 9th, 2022: Notice printed in the Tacoma News Tribune of the public hearing before the Pierce County Planning Commission.  This notice meets the requirement for providing public notice under RCW 36.70.
  • August 23, 2022: The Planning Commission voted (3 to 0, and 1 abstention) to recommend approval of the Draft 2023-2028 TIP and Fourteen-Year Ferry Program.
  • September 7, 2022: Submitted to the County Executive and County Council.
  • October 26, 2022: Date of Publication of Notice of Public Hearing.
  • November 22, 2022: The Pierce County Council voted unanimously (7-0) to adopt Ordinance 2022-65s.
  • December 1, 2022: The Pierce County Executive, Bruce F. Dammeier, approved Ordinance 2022-65s.
  • December 11, 2022: Effective date of Ordinance 2022-65s.
