Law Student Opportunities
Law students play a vital and active role in the success of this office. Legal interns and externs do real attorney work and represent the community in the courtroom, including trials. More than half of our legal interns are hired as full-time deputy prosecuting attorneys following bar admission. In the last five years, over 20 former interns, externs and volunteers have been hired.
Experienced deputy prosecuting attorneys provide ongoing guidance to legal interns in a collegial, open door atmosphere. By the end of the third year of law school, most legal interns are far beyond their peers in terms of courtroom experience and practical legal knowledge.
