Diversity Committee

Our Diversity Committee, comprised of attorneys and support staff, focuses on issues related to the recruiting, hiring, and retention of deputy prosecutors and support staff. The mission of the Committee is to develop creative approaches to enhance our applicant pool and ensure that our office maintains a culture of diversity. Committee members participate in outreach to local law school organizations and colleges in pursuit of its mission.

The Diversity Committee hosts mock trials in real courtrooms for Upward Bound high school students. Volunteers from our office become actors in the recreation of real criminal cases that were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for charging, but not charged due to proof problems. This experience gives students the opportunity to learn how the justice system operates in their community, and have the chance to discuss the process and the justice system with local attorneys and judges.
