Pitch In For Parks

Pierce County Parks and Recreation in partnership with McLendon Hardware proudly introduce “Pitch in for Parks.” This brand new volunteer based program is a great way to pitch in and help the community.

We supply the tools, water and a snack – you supply the energy and enthusiasm to make a big difference in our parks, open spaces and trails. We invite you to come “rain or shine” with appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.

Pitch In For Parks Opportunities

This is a great opportunity for all ages, (ages 14 and under with guardian). Volunteers are welcome to Pitch In for an hour or two or the entire time. Remember dress appropriately for weather and work.

Come out for one or all of the Pitch in for Parks 2018 events:

We’re continuing our commitment to the site by pulling Scotch broom and caring for the native plants for pollinators. Join us to walk the trails and enjoy the new educational kiosk. Stay tuned for the site’s Grand Opening!

Pitch In For Parks Kick Off Event - Saturday, March 7, 2015

Pierce County’s first “Pitch in for Parks” event was held on Saturday, March 7 and was a great success! Over 50 volunteers donated 137 hours of time and energy to cleaning up Bresemann Forest. Large piles of blackberries and English ivy were removed. Tools, gloves and other supplies for the program were donated by McLendon Hardware and will be used each month at a different park site as a part of the new volunteer coordination and outreach

One volunteer wrote on volunteermatch.org: "Great turnout… our 4 year old son thought trash duty was the best. We had a great time. The best part was that our son really enjoyed being able to help the animals of the forest. Great day. I look forward to working with all of you again in the future."
