About Cremation Plans

When shopping for cremation plans, be sure to ask about what is and is not covered in the plan. Costs can include:
  • Pick-up and transport of the body to the crematorium
  • Cremation
  • Urn
  • Niche or burial plot
  • Certified death certificate(s)
  • Costs of the memorial or funeral services
Some cremation plans are associated with a specific cemetery or group of cemeteries, so disposing of the ashes at another location would be an extra cost. Also, ask about what happens if the person dies far away from the location of the crematorium (for example, when travelling).

Pre-purchased cremation plans cost between $500 and $1,500 depending on the company selling the plan and the services provided.
