RUN the FUN 5K Series
Introducing the Run the Fun 5K Series, a family of races that takes you through Puget Sound’s most scenic trails. All racers receive a medal after completing each race. Collect all five medals across the series and be entered to win a prize!
2021 Fun Run Series Dates:
- May 1-31 - Spring Fling Virtual 5K
- Saturday, July 24 - Prevail the Trail 5K
- Saturday, August 28 - Chambers Color Run 5K
- Saturday, October 16 - Donut Dash 5K
- Saturday, December 11 - Santa's Sleigh 5K

How to Compete:
- Register for the virtual run.
- Run or Walk indoors or outdoors. You can also complete your challenge in multiple parts or all at once until you reach the 5K goal.
- After registration, race packets will be mailed on each Friday beginning April 30 via USPS.
- Share your achievement with your friends and tag us on Facebook @piercecountyparks #springfling5K
Participants will receive:
- Spring Fling 5K keepsake medal. Collect all five medals across the series and be entered to win a prize!

Run the Fun - Prevail the Trail 5KJuly 24, 2021Foothills Trail in OrtingCome one, come all…it is time to Prevail the Trail! Our Prevail the Trail 5K is the second in our Run the Fun 5K Series! All registered runners will receive a Prevail the Trail 5K keepsake medal! Collect all five medals across the series and be entered to win a prize! This 5K run takes place on the Foothills Trail in Orting. The course starts and finishes at the Orting City Park. The Foothills Trail is paved and provides flat areas and easy slopes. The 5K course is USATF certified and chip timed. Results will be made available on our website the week after the race.
Spectators are not allowed, however a member of the same household of a participant may provide support along the activity area. Everyone in attendance must wear a mask.
Registration
To accommodate social distancing requirements, participants are asked to pre-register only and choose your time based on your experience level. Registration will not be available on the day of the race.
- Registration fee:
- $30 - ages 13 & up
- $15 - youth 12 and under
- Pre-Registration required by July 12, 2021.
- Register online by selecting the experience level below:
- Advanced runners - 9:00-9:20 AM
- Intermediate runners - 9:25-9:55 AM
- Beginner runners - 10:00-10:45 AM

Race packets will be available for pick up:
- Wednesday, July 21 from 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM at the Lakewood Community Center (map)
Start Times & Parking
This event will have staggered start times (by levels) in order to help promote social distancing. Runners will be released in groups of 10 every 5 minutes. Check-in will take place 10 minutes prior to your staggered start time. To comply with current government restrictions please do not arrive prior to this.

The Santa's Sleigh 5K is our fifth and final of the Run the Fun 5K Series! Registration includes a race bib and Santa’s Sleigh 5K keepsake medal! Collect all five medals across the series and be entered to win a prize! The 5K course is USATF certified and chip timed. No day of race registration.
5K Course Information
The beautifully forested 5K course on the Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail is very flat and stroller friendly. Starting at Heritage Recreation Center, the course runs around the baseball fields then heads south and takes a large counter-clockwise loop around South Hill Park and forested wetlands. The course then progresses back toward Heritage Recreation Center lower soccer fields, north along 94th Avenue, then west through the lower parking lot (next to Zeiger Elementary) and ends in between fields #2 and #3 inside the sports complex.
