Carbonado

About Carbonado

Winding up the tree-lined mountain road 10 miles north of the Rainier National Forest entrance on Hwy. 165 is the beautifully situated town of Carbonado, Washington.

Once a booming coal-mining town, Carbonado is rich in history based on mining the hills of Carbonado which once supported stores, a hospital, a dance hall and a hotel.

Today, Carbonado is a small bedroom community of approximately 600 people near the base of Mount Rainier.
