Sprinker Recreation Center Master Plan

About the Project

Following a public process in 2016 and 2017, the Parks Board adopted a Master Plan for the Sprinker Recreation Center, which sits at the heart of the Spanaway Regional Park complex. The plan expands the variety of uses at the park and increases capacity, enhances pedestrian connectivity, improves sustainability and creates a safe, inviting experience.

Design is underway for the first three phases of the project including new outdoor amenities with a multi-purpose athletic field, a spray park and expanded playground, picnic areas and accessible walking trails throughout the site.  Phases to follow will support major outdoor sporting events with a new complex of synthetic fields, and expanded spectator viewing  Indoor enhancements to the ice arena tennis courts and multi-purpose rooms will increase safety and functionality.

In 2019 and early 2020, public outreach will continue on the design of future phases. Pierce County Parks will apply for Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office grand funding in 2020.  Construction is anticipated to begin in 2022 or 2023.
