About DuPont
DuPont is located about 20 miles south of Tacoma along the I-5 corridor, adjacent to and minutes from Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Most residents are active-duty military families, but sprinkled in and throughout the community are longtime residents who have been living in DuPont for decades.
In 1833, the Hudson's Bay Company set up shop on the site in a trading post called Fort Nisqually and in time DuPont would host a major U.S. scientific expedition which is still a landmark today. The former site of a major dynamite and explosives factory, the City of DuPont is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as the only former company town in the state in which most of the homes maintain historic integrity.
DuPont is clean and inviting with available
industrial land, several community parks, golf courses, trails, outdoor activities and other local attractions.
