Sumner-Buckley Highway East - 258th Avenue East to West Mason Avenue (CRP 5914)
What’s Happening
Work to resurface Sumner-Buckley Highway East from 258th Avenue East to West Mason Avenue at the Buckley city limits began April 4.
Site preparation work took place the week of April 4. Work resumed the week of May 2 after being delayed due to weather.
Paving is complete and project completion is expected in early August.
About the Project
Planned improvements to Sumner-Buckley Highway East from 258th Avenue East to West Mason Avenue (Buckley City Limits) are intended to preserve the existing roadway. The improvements would include the following:
Resurface the roadway with an asphalt overlay.
Replace some guardrail segments.
Regrade a section of the roadway side slope.
Traffic impacts
Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, unless otherwise noted.
The two-lane road may be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic during work hours. A pilot car may lead motorists through the work area.
Funding
ICON Materials is the project’s contractor. The construction cost is approximately $1.1 million and is funded with Washington State County Road Administration Board Rural Arterial Program funds.
