What’s Happening

Engineering: Pierce County is completing a field survey and is in the preliminary design stage.

Land: Right-of-Way needs will be evaluated.

Environmental: Necessary environmental permits will be obtained.

About the Project

Planned improvements to 118th Avenue Northwest, on the Key Peninsula, at its crossing with Minter Creek (CRP 5915) are intended to replace the existing culvert, including the following:

  • Removing the existing 10’ wide x 6’ high x 43’ long cast in place concrete box culvert.
  • Constructing a fish passable concrete structure. This structure will have two lanes with paved shoulders.

Project Timeline

Spring 2020 to Summer 2021: Surveying, preliminary engineering and right-of-way plans.

Fall 2021 to Spring 2023: Right-of-way acquisition, environmental documentation, construction plans, specifications and estimates.

Summer 2023: Construction
