Engineering: We are beginning the design engineering for the project. Currently we are gathering information about the existing site conditions and initiating contact with utility companies.

Land: Additional right-of-way needs will be assessed.

Surveying: County surveyors will be in the area gathering field data of the project area.

Planned improvements to the intersection of Stewart Avenue East and 66th Avenue East are intended to increase capacity and relieve traffic congestion, and include the following:

  • Construct a traffic signal system and intersection street lighting.
  • Extend the westbound left-turn lane on Stewart Avenue East.
  • Construct paved shoulder, cement concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk at the traffic signal.
  • Evaluate/improve the existing storm drainage system as needed to conform to the Pierce County Stormwater Management and Site Development Manual.
