Message from the Teacher
Welcome to Pierce County Sumner ECEAP. We are very excited to see our returning families and excited to meet our new families for the 2020-2021 school year.
Sumner ECEAP has diverse families and children enrolled at the site. We have several bilingual staff that work together to serve families and children as best as possible. We are one of the two sites that have the bilingual AVANZA classroom available for the community in Pierce County. We have staff that have served the same families for several school years, which helps build stronger relationships with the community and helps support incoming staff.
Preschool is very important because it helps children become better prepared for kindergarten and strongly supports social-emotional skills for children. ECEAP strongly believes it helps set the foundation for children to be more successful in school. One of the important factors to preschool is attendance, when children are absent, they miss out on a lot of learning opportunities and being a part of a bigger community.
Children will learn ways to communicate with peers successfully, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Sumner ECEAP will provide a safe learning environment for children to participate in. Teachers offer different learning activities and various educational areas for children to engage in daily.
ECEAP’s ultimate desire is for children to be fully prepared with all their pre-academics and social skills to be fully prepared to enter kindergarten with success. The teacher’s goal is to see children and families make the transition to elementary school without any regressions whatsoever. The family support’s goal is to ensure all families are connected to the resources they need to be successful for years to come after leaving the Sumner ECEAP program.
