What’s Happening Engineering: We are beginning the preliminary engineering for the project. We will be completing the field survey at the project site.
Land: Additional right-of-way needs will be assessed.
Surveying: County surveyors will be in the area gathering field data of the project.
About the Project Planned improvements to the intersection of Waller Road East and 152nd Street East are intended to improve safety and relieve traffic congestion, and will include the following:
Replace the existing traffic signal system and add intersection street lighting.
Add left turn lanes on each leg of the intersection.
Add a southbound right turn lane on Waller Road East.
Add an eastbound right turn lane on 152nd Street East.
Construct paved shoulders, cement concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk.
Evaluate/improve the existing storm drainage system as needed to conform to the Pierce County Stormwater Management and Site Development Manual.
Project Timeline
November 2020 to June 2022: Field data collection, preliminary engineering, environmental review, preliminary plans, estimate, final right-of-way plans.
March 2023: Work
anticipated to start back up. Project funding and timeline being assessed for
project update within 2023.
