How to Apply

You may apply online using our interactive form, or you may submit paper copies of the application and accompanying documentation either by mail or in person at our office. See the details below for how to apply online or using a paper application.

When applying online you will complete a web-based form. 

You will have the option to upload supporting documents, send by mail, or deliver them to our office. If you want to upload documents:

  1. Scan supporting materials, as applicable.
  2. Upload completed forms to the online form along with any other supporting documents when prompted.

To apply using the paper version of the form:

  1. Download the paper application form and review the income worksheet below.
  2. Complete and sign the form.
  3. Gather supporting documentation.
  4. Mail or deliver your application to the Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer's Office.

Renewals

After approval, the exemption applies until a renewal application is required. This happens at least once every six years. A renewal application packet will be mailed to you in your year of renewal.

Status Change Notices

A status change notice will be mailed to participants during their non-renewal years. You must complete and return the status change notice if your income category or eligibility has changed.

You must notify the Assessor-Treasurer’s office if:

  • Your 2022 income category has changed
  • You sold or purchased property
  • You no longer live in your home
  • Your spouse/co-owner/partner passed or retired
  • You are no longer disabled or have entered into gainful employment
  • Your marital status has changed
  • You did not live in your home more than 6 months in 2022
