Before You Apply

This serves as a quick list of items that clients will be responsible for when applying online or when dropping off their mail-in applications. 

Pierce County Energy Assistance serves households outside the City of Tacoma. If you live in Tacoma and need energy assistance, contact MDC.

Application

The Primary Applicant should be the person whose name appears on the utility bill, however Secondary Applicants can apply on their behalf. All applicants will need to provide a copy of a valid ID and a copy of their Social Security card.  


Picture ID

A valid picture ID is required for ALL persons residing in the home; 18 years or older.  Valid ID’s can include passport, Military ID, Department of Corrections ID, or tribal ID.  The ID must not be expired.


Citizenship

All members of the household must have a Social Security card (SS) or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

This online application should take anywhere from 5-20 minutes to fill out. If we have remaining questions about your application, an Energy Assistance staff member will contact you. If you'd like to save your application and finish at a later time, please select 'Save' at the bottom of the page and you will be directed to create an account. In order to finish your application later, you'll need to save your username and password to log-in.
