The Washington State Legislature established a long-term care (LTC) insurance benefit for all eligible workers to address future long-term care needs. Under this law, workers will contribute 0.58% of pay beginning July 1, 2023, to the WA Cares Fund while we are working and eligible individuals will have access to a lifetime benefit amount that, should they need it, they can use on a variety of long-term services and support.
An employee who obtains an approved exemption from the ESD must provide written notification to all current and future employers of the exemption. ESD does not notify the County of your premium exemption.
Pierce County Employees who have received an approved exemption letter from ESD, follow these instructions to submit your exemption in Workday. Exemptions will take effect the quarter after your application is approved. If an employee fails to provide written notification of an approved, effective exemption, the County must collect and remit premiums to ESD.
