Pierce County Sustainability supports vibrant communities and a clean, sustainable environment. We work to promote sustainable efforts both in County government operations and throughout the larger community.
On April 15, 2021, Pierce County Executive Bruce Dammeier signed the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Plan: Sustainability 2030. The plan calls for a reduction in GHG emissions of 45% below 2015 levels by 2030. Reducing emissions also enhances public health, improves air and water quality, and supports our economy.
Our atmosphere, land and waterways are all interconnected and impacted by climate change. The rapid release of human generated GHG is causing air and sea temperatures to rise. This results in negative impacts right here at home.
