Ohop Valley Extension Road East remains closed to through traffic following landslide activity in December 2021 and January 2022.
About 150 feet of the shoulder and embankment were washed out in the 11100 block in a Jan. 4 landslide. A smaller landslide at the location occurred on Dec. 13.
Repairs are expected to be made by Fall 2023.
Traffic impacts
The road will remain closed at the landslide location until the repairs are complete.
Motorists will be detoured along Ohop Valley Extension Road E and State Route 161.
Repair plan
Site information – such as survey data, the locations of utility infrastructure, a hydraulic analysis of Ohop Creek in the area, and soil samples – has been gathered.
The repair design is also complete. A contractor will install a type of retaining wall called a soldier pile wall to stabilize the embankment. This wall will be constructed of both vertical and horizontal beams.
We will send residents located along Ohop Valley Extension Road E updates about the repair schedule as they are available.
