Effective April 1, 2022, Pierce County Planning and Public Works implemented a new performance-based contract to better serve our passengers and provide additional transparency and accountability.
As part of the contract requirements, HMS Ferries will be launching a new, rider-friendly, full-service ticketing system beginning on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
With the May 1 launch of the new ticketing system, ferry riders will experience:
Enhanced trip planning services to better coordinate their commute based on real-time conditions and operations.
Ease of access to ticketing and scheduling.
Real-time boat tracking and departure updates.
Routine customer satisfaction surveying.
New City Experiences app for all rider needs and tracking.
We are excited to implement all these new tools for our riders. Thank you for your patience as we implement this upgrade.
The City Experiences app
Creating an online account will allow riders to be able to purchase ferry tickets in advance, manage tickets, and see your travel history, as well as real time tracking and departure updates.
Riders using PierceCountyWa.gov/FerryTickets to purchase their tickets will not need to create an online account.
Riders can continue to purchase tickets in person at the Pierce County Ferry terminal’s ticket window.
Beginning May 1, riders purchasing tickets in person will now be able to go paperless by having their tickets delivered directly to their phone or email address.
Beginning May 1, tickets will no longer be available for purchase at PierceFerryTickets.com.
Customer account access will remain available as will the ability to scan live tickets and request/obtain refunds.
Tickets will be available for purchase at PierceCountyWa.gov/FerryTickets, in the City Experiences app, and in person.
Off-peak tickets purchased before May 1, 2022, are valid until 11:59 p.m. on May 26, 2022
Peak season begins on May 27, 2022
All tickets purchased on or after May 1 must be bought at PierceCountyWa.gov/FerryTickets, in the City Experiences app, or in person at the Pierce County Ferry ticket window.
Value Passes purchased prior to May 1, 2022, will remain valid until the expiration date printed on each ticket.
