What’s Happening

Engineering: We are beginning the design engineering for the project which includes collecting field information, preparing final construction plans and other contract documents to advertise the project for construction. 

Environmental: Necessary environmental permits will be obtained.

Surveying: County surveyors will be in the area gathering field data for the project.

About the Project
Planned improvements for the 2021 Road Safety Program - Guardrail and Centerline Rumble Strips project involves installing guardrail and centerline rumble strips at various locations throughout the County. The locations include:

Group 1: Sumner Tapps Highway

Install guardrail on the northbound lane between South Tapps Drive East and 36th Street East.

Group 2: Orting Kapowsin Highway East

Install guardrail on the southbound lane between 218th Street East to 214th Street East.

Group 3: Waller Road East

Install centerline rumble strips between Brookdale Road East to the railroad crossing north of Chesney Road East.

Project Timeline

June 2022 to December 2022: Complete field surveying, environmental documentation, construction plans, specifications, and estimates.

January 2023: Advertisement for construction.

Spring 2023:  Construction to begin.
