Green Teams

What is a Green Team?


EnviroEd Green TeamsA Green Team is made up of students that drive action projects at their school with the intent of making positive environmental impacts in response to the unique needs of their community.

Students will…

  • choose a local or global issue of interest and/or personal relevance, design an action plan, and take action.
  • learn leadership skills and work with administration, community organizations, and other stakeholders to drive change.
  • build their portfolios and gain community service volunteer hours.
  • connect with community partners and potential mentors.
  • be exposed to various career pathways in the environmental field.

Using models designed by EarthGen and National Wildlife Federation, Pierce County Environmental Educators can support your group in the following ways:

  • Guidance on how to start your group and define your direction with the goal of creating cultural changes at your school.
  • Help with knowledge-building for concepts that inform your chosen project.NWF Logo Opens in new window
  • TechNWF Logo Opens in new windownical support with conducting waste and energy audits, support school garden maintenance, etc.
  • Provide infrastructure support to get your school proper signage and bins, work with haulers and administration to get the right size garbage and recycling pickup.
  • Connect your group to other local organizations and resources to support your action projects.
  • Connect your group to the larger Pierce County network of change makers through our Youth Engaged in Sustainable Solutions (YESS) Program.
