Defendants may request an infraction hearing (mitigation or contested) or submit a written statement for a hearing by statement online. Hearing requests must be made within 15 days of the date of violation.
Online Interview Process
District Court allows certain cases (anti-harassment, name changes and small claim) to be initiated online. You may complete the interview process online, but you must contact the Court within 72 hours after submitting the petition, either by phone at (253) 798-7487 or by Live Chat. If you do not contact the court within 72 hours, your petition will be deleted.
At this time, you will be provided a confirmation number and instructions to pay the filing fee. The confirmation number allows you to check the status of your petition when you contact the court. A clerk will review your responses and either accept or reject the document. A rejection could mean that more information is required or that the Court does not have jurisdiction over your request.
