Online Interview Process
District Court allows Name Changes and Small Claims cases to be started online. After you complete the interview process online, you must contact the Court within 72 hours, either by phone at (253) 798-7487 or by Live Chat. If you do not contact the court within 72 hours, your petition will be deleted.
At this time, you will be provided a confirmation number and instructions to pay any applicable filing fees. The confirmation number allows you to check the status of your petition when you contact the court. A clerk will review your responses and either accept or reject the document. A rejection could mean that more information is required or that the Court does not have jurisdiction over your request (if we do not have jurisdiction over your case, this means you may need to re-file your petition at another court).
