Our popular Grand Cinema Film Series returns in 2024 with the theme of “Senior Strength In Solitude”, featuring movies that demonstrate the power of one person confronting their most difficult challenges. 

“Darkest Hour” (2017) showing on Saturday, January 13, 2024 
After becoming prime minister of the United Kingdom in 1940, Winston Churchill must find a way to rally the nation to action while many of his colleagues seek peace talks with Hitler. This PG-13 movie stars Gary Oldman in an intense character study of courage under fire.

Showtime is 10am with doors opening at 9:40am.

“Land” (2021) showing on Saturday, February 10, 2024   
A woman in crisis finds herself unable and unwilling to stay connected to the world she once knew.  Facing an uncertain future, she retreats to the magnificent but unforgiving Rocky Mountains.  After a local hunter brings her back from near death, she must find a way to live again.  Robin Wright directed and stars in this PG-13 movie exploring strength during adversity.

“All Is Lost” (2014) showing on Saturday, March 9, 2024    
A solitary mariner struggles to survive in the Indian Ocean as his damaged sailboat begins to sink and his radio equipment fails.  Later in the movie, he attempts to locate a shipping route, hoping to be rescued.  This PG-13 movie stars Robert Redford in this harrowing tale of man against nature.
