Upper Nisqually Valley

Community Plan

The Upper Nisqually Valley Community Plan was adopted by the Pierce County Council on September 28, 1999. Community Plans are a part of the Comprehensive Plan and provide a more detailed sense of how the community wants the area to develop in the future.

The plan area includes the communities of Alder, Elbe, and Ashford, up to the Nisqually entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park. Roughly 50% of the plan area is public lands held by the Federal, State, or local government which are designated forests providing significant recreational opportunities and conservation of wildlife habitat.
