The Hearing Examiner is appointed by the County Council and responsible for conducting public hearings, preparing the official records thereof, preparing finds of fact and conclusions of law and issuing final decisions for Land-use cases, plats,
administrative appeals, shoreline management and more.
The Planning Commission is an advisory board to the County Council regarding legislative actions dealing with planning and land use. Hearings before the Commission are typically in regard to planning related legislation such as zoning code changes, comprehensive plan amendments and other land use regulations.
The Boundary Review Board is a quasi-judicial, administrative body empowered to make decisions on such issues as incorporations, annexations, extensions of utilities, etc. by cities, towns, and special purpose districts. It can approve, deny, or modify a proposal. Its decisions are appealable to the Pierce County Superior Court.
Frederickson Advisory Commission The FAC reviews applications for proposed developments within their community for which a public hearing is required and makes recommendations regarding updates to their community plan.
Gig Harbor Peninsula Advisory Commission The PAC reviews applications for proposed developments within their community for which a public hearing is required and makes recommendations regarding updates to their community plan.
Graham Advisory Commission The GAC reviews applications for proposed developments within their community for which a public hearing is required and makes recommendations regarding updates to their community plan.
Key Peninsula Advisory Commission The KPAC reviews applications for proposed developments within their community for which a public hearing is required and makes recommendations regarding updates to their community plan.
Mid-County Land Use Advisory Commission The MCAC reviews applications for proposed developments within their community for which a public hearing is required and makes recommendations regarding updates to their community plan.
Parkland-Spanaway-Midland Land Use Advisory Commission The PSMAC reviews applications for proposed developments within their community for which a public hearing is required and makes recommendations regarding updates to their community plan.
South Hill Advisory Commission The SHAC reviews applications for proposed developments within their community for which a public hearing is required and makes recommendations regarding updates to their community plan.
