Adoption of 2021 Building Codes postponed to March 15, 2024
Adoption of the 2021 Washington State Building Codes has been postponed, with an anticipated effective date of March 15, 2024.
On Sept. 15, 2023, the Washington State Building Code Council revised the effective date to March 15. This is the second delay to the effective date.
For the most up-to-date code adoption information, please refer to the State Building Code Council’s website.
Building permit applications submitted, accepted, and paid for prior to March 15 will be reviewed under the 2018 code.
