Expect to see Pierce County work trucks on ferry Aug. 26-Sept. 17

Ferry riders should expect to see Pierce County work trucks and heavy equipment on the ferry on weekdays from Aug. 26-Sept. 17. One excavator will be brought over on a trailer on the 10:35 a.m. run departing Steilacoom on both Thursday, Aug. 26 and Friday, Aug. 27. The empty trailer will come back on the 12:45 p.m. run departing Anderson Island. Pierce County crews will also take two ferry runs on weekdays from Aug. 30-Sept. 17. They will travel Monday through Friday to repair the Eckenstam Johnson Road shoulder north of Brandt Road. Crews will typically travel on the 5:45 a.m. run departing Steilacoom and the 12:45 p.m. run departing Anderson Island. They will not work Sept. 3 or 7 to minimize impacts to holiday travelers. Ferry riders may see up to four pickup trucks, one dump truck, and the occasional piece of heavy equipment on the runs. Two additional dump trucks will be brought over Aug. 30 and Sept. 17. Crews will work to minimize impacts to ferry capacity. Please plan your ferry trip accordingly. Learn more at www.piercecountywa.gov/eckenstamrepairs.
