Expect to see additional Pierce County heavy equipment on ferry Sept. 15 and 16
Ferry riders should expect to see additional Pierce County heavy equipment on the ferry Sept. 15 and 16. A trailer will travel on the 5:45 a.m. run departing Steilacoom and return carrying an excavator on the 8:55 a.m. run departing Anderson Island on Sept. 15. A second excavator will be transported off Anderson Island Sept. 16 using the 5 p.m. run departing Steilacoom and the 9:10 p.m. run departing Anderson Island. These runs were selected based on expected tides. Pierce County crews continue to work on the repair to the Eckenstam Johnson Road shoulder north of Brandt Road. Work, originally scheduled to be completed on Sept. 17, is expected to continue through Sept. 22 due to weather. Up to four pickup trucks, a dump truck and an occasional piece of heavy equipment will travel on the 5:45 a.m. run departing Steilacoom and the 12:45 p.m. run departing Anderson Island through Sept. 22. Please plan your ferry trip accordingly. Learn more at www.piercecountywa.gov/eckenstamrepairs.
