Parks and Recreation to host kite-flying festival Aug. 9 at Chambers Creek Regional Park

Pierce County Parks and Recreation Services will partner with the Pierce County Kitefliers Association for a fun-filled day of kites at Chambers Creek Regional Park on Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers say the entire family will be entertained and captivated by amazing kite demonstrations, family kite-flying, face painting, and more.

The first 250 kids will have an opportunity to make their own kites, compliments of the Pierce County Kitefliers Association, and attendees are urged to bring their own kites, blankets and cameras to prepare for a day full of fun.

Youth Kite Festival T-shirts will be sold for $8 while supplies last on the day of the event. The site will also feature food vendors such as Murphs BBQ and Tastyz LCC serving kettle corn and shaved ice. Parks and Recreation’s companionship staff will provide face painting for $1 and bounce houses for the kids.
