The City of Edgewood will hold a primary election for mayor in April and a general election in August. Candidate filings for the mayoral position will be accepted Feb. 23, 24 and 25, 2015.
Last November, Edgewood citizens voted to change their form of government from a city manager to a strong mayor. The mayor position is nonpartisan and is governed by the rules for nonpartisan elections. If three or more candidates file for an office, a primary election will be held April 28. The top two vote-getters will then advance to the Aug. 4 ballot. If only one or two candidates file for an office – no primary will be held. The position will go directly to the Aug. 4 ballot.
Candidate filing will occur during a special period:
- Candidate filing period: Feb. 23-25, 2015 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
