Amid a sea of yellow taffeta and silver tiaras, members of the Pierce County Council honored the 82nd Annual Daffodil Festival Tuesday and recognized the good work done by its ambassadors, members of the Royal Court.

Twenty-three Daffodil Princesses joined the 2015 Daffodil Queen to speak with members of the council about community service, leadership training and educational opportunities provided by their organization, a non-profit aiming to become an influential service and leadership development organization while serving as ambassadors of Pierce County.

“Each year, the Daffodil Festival Royalty Court impresses us with their dedication and commitment to this community,” said Council Chair Dan Roach, who represents the 1st Council District where 2015 Daffodil Queen Ashley Becker attends Bonney Lake High School. “This year’s Royalty Court is sure to continue the long tradition of service and I’m proud to honor them on behalf of the County Council.”

The 2015 Grand Floral Street Parade – featuring nearly 30 floats and almost as many marching bands – will be held April 11, beginning in Tacoma at 10:15 a.m. and traveling to Puyallup, Sumner and Orting. The theme for the 2015 parades is "Shine Your Light With Service."
