Chambers Creek Regional Park to reopen dog park, beach access

Pierce County Parks and Recreation has announced the off-leash dog area and beach access at Chamber Creek Regional Park will reopen on Friday, Sept. 18. These areas have been closed since the U.S. Open golf championship, which took place June 15-21, 2015, at Chambers Bay.

The Playground by the Sound, North Meadow restrooms, Grandview Trail, East Slope, and Environmental Service Building ball fields reopened earlier this summer. Parks and Recreation director Tony Tipton said the restoration project is on schedule to meet the department’s goals.

The North Meadow parking lot and grass areas at the Central and North Meadows will remain closed until construction activity ceases and restoration is complete.

For safety reasons, the public is advised to please obey all signage and stay out of the remaining closed areas. Find out more information on the park’s reopening schedule on the Parks and Recreation Department’s website.
