Therapeutic Recreation Leader opportunity with Parks and Recreation

Pierce County Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for the position of Therapeutic Recreation Leader for the Companionship program’s Club TGIF and Camp Pierce.

Companionship’s Club TGIF provides inclusive recreation and socialization skills for young adults ages 20-30 who have special needs. Club TGIF meets every other Friday on a monthly basis. Camp Pierce is a summer day-camp especially designed for similarly aged young adults with special needs to participate in personally-enriching activities within the community. Those activities include volunteering, visiting parks and other organizations as well as field trips.

The Therapeutic Recreation Leader will lead planned events, adapt activities to participants’ abilities and supervise participants and volunteers during program activities. Applicants must be 18 years of age, high-school graduates or have earned a GED. This is an extra-hire position that pays $10 per hour and the application deadline is Nov. 16, 2015.

Applications are available at the Lakewood Community Center, 9112 Lakewood Drive SW in Lakewood, or by contacting Pierce County Parks’ Companionship Program at (253)798-2997. Submit applications to the Lakewood Community Center.
